The story behind Restaurant ‘Vloed’

With over 13 kilometers of beach, a charming boulevard, and beautiful dunes, Noordwijk is rightly known as one of the most popular seaside resorts in the Netherlands. For the name of Restaurant ‘Vloed’, we were inspired by the stunning surroundings of Noordwijk. Twice a day, nature creates a period of ‘ebb’ and ‘flow’—a time when the moon’s gravity pulls on the earth and moves the water. ‘Vloed’ (flow) occurs when the earth is closest to the moon and the sun, a time of strong gravitational pull. A truly fascinating phenomenon!

This is how the unique name of our restaurant, ‘Vloed’, was derived from this remarkable natural occurrence.

At Restaurant ‘Vloed’, we believe in the power of local ingredients. That’s why our kitchen team uses as many locally sourced products as possible when preparing our dishes.

We are proud to be part of Proeftuin Noordwijk, where we collaborate with other chefs in the region to draw inspiration from local products. Our goal is to prepare dishes with ingredients grown as close to home as possible.

We are proud to be affiliated with Euro-Toques, a quality mark reserved for the best restaurants in the Netherlands. To be a member of Euro-Toques, a restaurant must meet strict requirements, including working with pure, honest products from the region and operating sustainably with respect for nature. Each Euro-Toques member has its own kitchen and identity, but we share one common passion: cooking with honest, local products. In Noordwijk, only two restaurants hold this prestigious quality mark, and we are proud to be one of them.
