The Bollenstreek is in full bloom, the days are getting longer, and the first rays of sunshine are breaking through: spring has truly begun. And you can feel it here at our hotel as well!

You are warmly welcome on April 18 at Restaurant Vloed for a culinary evening fully dedicated to “white gold.” For this special occasion, Michelin-star chef René Brienen is flying in from Van der Valk Bonaire to our hotel to perfectly curate the evening together with executive chef Denny van Veen.

Discover the taste of the asparagus season

On April 18, Restaurant Vloed will be transformed into an atmospheric asparagus market, where you can stroll past various stalls and enjoy delicious dishes. René Brienen, together with our chefs, will prepare everything live for you, using the finest asparagus of the season as the base.

From classic combinations to surprising creations, such as: 

• Asparagus soup with Dutch shrimp 
• Fresh asparagus salads 
• Various sushi rolls and dumplings with asparagus 
• Cod with asparagus tagliatelle and vongole 
• Fresh strawberries with Romanoff sauce and lime zest 
• And as the grand finale: the Limburg classic asparagus with egg and ham from a hay box, known from the TV program De Wereld Draait Door.

René van Brienen

All dishes during this Asparagus Evening will be prepared by Michelin-star chef René Brienen, in collaboration with the chefs of Restaurant Vloed. René is the former owner of the Michelin-starred restaurant Brienen aan de Maas. With his many years of experience at the highest level and his passion for pure ingredients, he knows better than anyone how to bring out the best in asparagus.

It is no coincidence that he holds the title of ‘Asparagus Ambassador of the Netherlands’. His love for this seasonal product can be tasted in every dish. Especially for this evening, he will travel from Van der Valk Bonaire to Van der Valk Palace Hotel Noordwijk to share his passion for asparagus with you.
