Discover the history of Noordwijk with a historical walk by Koen van Toen!
During this walk through Noordwijk aan Zee, Koen will tell the story of the origins of the seaside resort of Noordwijk in the middle of the 19th century. Before that time, the poor inhabitants of the small sea village relied only on fishing. Slowly, however, bathing carriages and bathing guests arrived in the sea village and Noordwijk went through the transformation from fishing village to seaside resort. How did this transformation occur? Who were the first pioneers in the sea village who recognized the potential of bathing culture? Which historical sites play a prominent role in the development of the seaside resort? And what special stories are hidden behind the buildings still present in Noordwijk aan Zee? All these questions and many more will be answered during the approximately 2-hour walk.
